Open Enrollment for retirees

If you're enrolled in an IU retiree medical plan, this is your annual opportunity to review your IU retiree health plan coverage for the upcoming year and to provide the university with any changes to your mailing address.

A mailed packet of information will be delivered to your home address in late October. You can review the same packet and plan information below.

Retirees under age 65 (Anthem U65 PPO HDHP)

Here’s what to expect in 2027:

  • There will be no changes to your coverage. 
  • Premiums will increase by 5% for all coverage levels.
  • New Anthem ID cards will not be sent. Please continue using your current card.

  • To continue your coverage in this plan, you do not need to take any action. Your current coverage will continue at the new 2027 rates.
  • To change your address, complete the Under 65 Retiree change form and return it to IU Human Resources by Dec. 1, 2026.
  • To cancel your coverage, complete the Under 65 Retiree change form and return it to IU Human Resources by Dec. 1, 2026. Remember, if you cancel coverage, you cannot re-enroll in this plan at a later time.

Here’s what to expect in 2027:

  • There will be no changes to your coverage.
  • Premiums will increase by approximately 9.5% in 2027, reflecting increased use of healthcare services and rising claims costs.

  • To change your address, complete the IU Blue Retiree change form and return it to IU Human Resources by December 1, 2026.
  • To cancel your coverage, complete the IU Blue Retiree change form and return it to IU Human Resources by Dec. 1, 2026. Remember, if you cancel coverage, you cannot re-enroll at a later time.
